The journey so far

the-invader a SDL 1.2 game

I began with experimenting with the-invaders a SDL 1.2 game on Windows. I used SDL libraries that I found somewhere on the internet. To allow CFFI to find those libraries I placed them in the same directory as the .exe files for my lisp.

A failed rewrite under SDL 2.0

A week of working on SDL 1.2 code and I tried a rewrite under SDL 2.0 but, this lead to frustratio because the lisp interface piece failed to work on Windows.

cl-gd under Windows

cl-gd has glue code and does not have a working windows port. I abandoned this effort but did learn about the various Windows c libraries and their relationship to msys2 enviroments.

compilation of sbcl

I began compilaiton of sbcl, who's monthly source releases. This was mainly to ensure that the c part of sbcl linked with ucrt library.

A games solution by treating dll files as resource

I found a gamer who advocated shipping dll files as resources and early binding the libraries using CFFI.

Eventually I discovered clog which provided dll
